Crypto technology is gaining traction as days go by, with more industries integrating this phenomenon in their core operations. The popularity is hitting unprecedented heights, with its penetration transcending the business sector into other areas where its application sounded irrelevant not so long ago. The latest entrant to this mania is FanDuel, a globally reputable fantasy football league. Recently, the company announced the launch of NFL playoffs contest, known as “The Bitcoin Bowl”. Here, winners will bag prizes in form of Bitcoin.

Fantasy football is a game in which players seek to emulate real-life managers, by being in charge of a chosen roster of players. Usually, the manager has a limited budget with which he/she acquires real players. Various managers are then pitched against each other in a league, where points are awarded in correspondence with the performance of the players in a given manager's squad.

Typically a pass time activity, the acceptance of fantasy football has grown exponentially in recent times, primarily due to development of online platforms. FanDuel and Draft Kings have the lion's share of players of the online fantasy leagues. This week, FanDuel is organizing a NFL playoffs competition, and all prizes will be in Bitcoin, regardless of their quantity. Winners are set to get the awards after the completion of the football season.

Participating in the competition is a simple process, with the only requirement being choosing the appropriate contest and then picking the desired players for your team. In the end, the team that scores the most points will take home the accolade.  The tourney has two categories; the free play and the paid version. The entry fee for the latter is $3. The free entry category has a grand prize of 1BTC, while the payable variant has a jackpot of 2BTC and complementary awards of 0.25 BTC and 0.5 BTC.

As mentioned earlier, FanDuel is a household name in online fantasy games, as its fan base of over 6 million players can attest. This is due to the firm's determination to stay ahead of the game by regularly implementing unique prizing. Andy Giancamilli, the company's CFO, recently revealed that the enterprise closely monitors the increasing interest in digital assets. Consequently, the firm established the Bitcoin awarding program after noting the significant Bitcoin euphoria among their clientele.

The free play competition will kick off on Saturday, 6th January 2018, as from 1635hrs EDT.  The paid tourney will follow up shortly after the commencement of the free version. It is worth noting that players are limited to only one entry in the free play tournament. Additionally, every player must provide a valid Bitcoin address where winnings will be sent if they are successful in the contest.

This contest presents an easy way of earning virtual money while enjoying yourself. On top of the allure of defeating rival managers in the football league, you have the chance to bag digital coins worth thousands of dollars. Yet another witty innovation from FanDuel, the Bitcoin Bowl is definitely a subtle way of jumping onto the cryptocurrency bandwagon if you haven't joined already, isn't it?
