FinShi Capital ICO (FINS Token): Blockchain Venture Fund Coin?

FinShi Capital, found online at FinShi.capital, is a venture fund based on blockchain technology. Find out everything you need to know about the fund and its recent ICO today in our review.

What Is FinShi Capital?

FinShi Capital is a venture fund formed on blockchain technology where any investor – even someone with just $1 to invest – can join the fund. The fund recently completed an ICO, raising $21.4 million from investors. The next step is to select and develop startup companies with the goal of growing the fund.

The fund is managed by a group from the Capinvest 21 fund. That team has been managing funds since 2007.

You can participate in the fund by buying FinShi Capital tokens. A total of 21.42 million tokens were sold during the ICO, which is why the company was able to raise $21.4 million: each token was sold for $1.

How FinShi Capital Blockchain Venture Fund Coin Works

FinShi Capital is a venture fund formed on blockchain technology. With FinShi Capital, anyone with just a dollar to invest can become an investor.

During the next two years, FinShi Capital will use its $21.4 million war chest to invest in at least 15 startups from across the fintech and blockchain space. The fund will invest in startups during the seed and A/B funding rounds.

As of April 2018, FinShi Capital is reviewing 30+ rapidly-growing fintech projects to determine which one is suitable for the long-term growth of the fund. The company expects startups to “grow exponentially, and after some time they will be sold to further investors and strategic buyers.” This growth will ultimately deliver returns of 700 to 1400% for investors.

FinShi Capital also claims that investors can expect to earn 120% per annum income (“judging by the growth of portfolio companies in the previous years”). However, the fund is aiming for returns of 520% per annum by “taking into account rapid development of fintech and blockchain markets”.

Here’s the basic process broken down into step by step form:

  1. You invest in FinShi Capital.
  2. The fund selects the best projects and purchases shares in them, with no fewer than 15 projects receiving investments
  3. FinShi Capital will help all teams grow exponentially, increasing their revenues and value
  4. When the portfolio’s projects “grow to be huge and expensive companies, we sell our shares and earn way more money than we invested in the first place”, explains the official website
  5. After each startup sale, the fund will give investors their money back along with a profit

Ultimately, FinShi Capital is a straightforward hedge fund-style investment vehicle. You’re depositing money into a venture capital fund. That fund is managed by a team. That team aims to achieve enormous growth by investing in startup companies. Ideally, you gain returns of 700% to 1400% as outlined on FinShi.capital.

Where Will FinShi Capital Invest?

FinShi Capital has announced plans to invest in no fewer than 15 companies. The fund will focus on specific technologies, including all of the following:

  • Authentication technologies
  • Mobile point of sale (MPOS) and e-commerce systems
  • Virtual banking, including online banking and mobile applications
  • Big data and online scoring systems
  • P2P lending platforms
  • Online wallets and cryptocurrency payment vehicles
  • Algorithmic trading
  • Technologies for exchange markets
  • Contactless technologies for online wallets
  • Blockchain technologies
  • Internet of things (IoT) and offline-to-online (o2o) services
  • Chat bots for banks and robo-advisory services
  • Other fintech products and services
  • Distributed ledger and smart contract technologies
  • Crowdfunding technologies
  • Regulatory technology (RegTech), including technologies for risk management, payments control, and regulator relations
  • Other financial products and services

Overall, FinShi Capital claims to currently monitor more than 140 projects. They also claim to be specifically investigating 30 projects, with the final list eventually being trimmed to 15 projects. Two projects are already listed on the official website, including Paymon.org and e-hub.ru.

FinShi Capital FINS Tokens ICO Details

FinShi Capital tokens are called FINS. They’re ERC20 tokens on the Ethereum blockchain. As an owner of a FINS token, you’re an investor in the Fund. The token, according to the Ethereum contract, is proof of you being a shareholder in proportion to the fund’s portfolio companies. Each token also gives you the right to receive 80% of profits from the fund.

FinShi Capital doesn’t plan to issue any additional tokens after the ICO. The ICO was completed in 2017, raising over $21 million for the fund.

Who’s Behind FinShi Capital?

FinShi Capital is led by Andrey Orlov (Managing Partner), Vyacheslav Sorokin (Partner), and Ayami Tanaka (Senior Manager). Orlov previously founded mobile device companies like Mobilnik and DigitalFree before joining Capinvest 21 in 2008. Since 2015, he’s been a managing partner of Capinvest 21.

Sorokin, meanwhile, comes from a direct sales and marketing background. He’s an entrepreneur with 16 years of experience. Tanaka has been working with Capinvest 21 since 2016. The core FinShi Capital team is based in Tyumen, Russia.

FinShi Capital Conclusion

FinShi Capital is a venture capital fund. Typically, venture capital funds are not available to ordinary investors. FinShi Capital, however, takes a different approach, allowing ordinary investors to participate in venture capital investing for as little as $1. If you can buy a FINS token (which sold for $1 during the ICO, then you can purchase a proportional share of the fund.

In terms of returns, FinShi Capital doesn’t guarantee anything. However, the website mentions that they’re expecting to generate returns of 120% per year – comparable to the world’s best hedge funds today – as well as long-term returns of 700% to 1400%. That seems unusually optimistic for a company seeking to invest in tech startups.
