Staunch Bitcoin SV (BSV) Supporter Craig Wright Warns Crypto Users About Receiving Bitcoin Legally
Craig Wright, a popular Bitcoin SV activist, warns people of the dangers of unexpectedly receiving Bitcoin. He stated that it was better to make reasonable steps to stop the transaction or return credit than to retain credits of bitcoin received by mistake.
Bitcoin SV [BSV]’s popular activist Craig Wright has voiced his opinion again. This time he referred to one of the recent happenings in the cryptocurrency industry, the crediting of a person’s crypto account by mistake. Craig Wright is an Australian computer scientist and a businessman. He has publicly classified himself as the main part of the team that created bitcoin and is a staunch supporter of BCHSV. He advised on actions to take when a crypto account is credited with Bitcoin by mistake.
He said,
“Did you know that, if you surprisingly get a bitcoin payment (e.g., tracking dust) you cannot legitimately spend it unless there is an Op_Return assigning it to you or some other authorization. Having a bitcoin is a possession, not ownership, and this comes with issues.”
Retaining “Unexpected” Bitcoin Is A Crime
Wright pointed out section 24A of the UK Theft Act 1968 and section 2 of the Theft Amendment Act 1968 as backing for his claims. He further explained that if the recipient fails to return the received amount to the sender, he could be registered under the previously mentioned act.
He also explained that registering the BSV transaction as a donation will nullify the effect of the act. He further said that even though the transaction is marked as a donation, it will still be taxed as income, unless the donation was made to a registered charitable organization.
He stated that,
“…If the address is not affected, you have some defense to the charges. But… if you spend the received coin, you have dishonestly taken a wrongful credit.”
Wright also mentioned in one of his tweets, that the crime here would be holding the credit rather than making “reasonable steps to cancel it.”
Faketoshi
Craig Wright, claiming to be Satoshi Nakamoto, founder of Bitcoin, has earned himself the name of Faketoshi. He claims BSV is the true bitcoin. Who is also known as Faketoshi for declaring himself to be Satoshi Nakamoto, the founder of Bitcoin, claims BSV as the true Bitcoin? Bitcoin SV was formed after the hard fork of Bitcoin. Bitcoin SV unveiled its logo, which has a lot of similarities with the Bitcoin logo on the tenth anniversary of Bitcoin Genesis Block.
Since the hard fork of BCH, which let to the formation of BSV, Wright has been a known critic of Bitcoin (BTC). He has not allowed any opportunity to criticize bitcoin (BTC) slip through. On the 3rd of January, Wright took to his twitter handle to severely criticize Andreas Antonopoulos, a popular Bitcoin advocate.
Wright, along side Calvin Ayre, promotes BSV as one true coin and always talked about how well BSV is faring.
