Kleiner Perkins Participates In $2 Million Seed Round For Skew Crypto Derivatives Company
The venture capital company Kleiner Perkins was one of the main firms to participate in the seed round for Skew, a crypto derivatives company. The company, which declined to disclose its investment, was followed by other major companies such as QCP Capital, Seedcamp and Kima Ventures.
Kleiner Perkins was created back in 1972 in California and it has invested in more than 900 companies so far. The company has made investments in several financial and technology companies, so investing in a crypto company is nothing new. Some of the companies in which Kleiner Perkins has invested include Google, Electronic Arts, Twitter, and Amazon.
Skew offers data on crypto derivatives for large companies. The focus of the startup is to help large investors who need data.
Crypto Derivatives Are Making A Comeback In 2019
Despite faring very poorly in 2018, crypto derivatives have certainly made a comeback in 2019. They were pretty high back in 2017 when the hype around the blockchain was huge, but the bear market affected them. This year, however, several new derivatives are appearing and institutional investors seem to be very interested in them.
It is because of this that companies such as Skew offer their services. There are so many options in the market that they can help the investors to understand the data and make informed investors instead of having to rely on pure guesswork.
With the launch of Bakkt, which marks the first time in which investors can finally buy physical cryptocurrencies, the market is set to change and these companies are trying to profit from this.
